The successful Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday service, first introduced in 1998, will be further improved from the 25 April 2004 when the service is taken over by First South Yorkshire Ltd.
Re-numbered 268 and 269 the route will take a more direct route from Sheffield through Broomhill, Crookes and Walkley to Hillsborough; then via Dykes Hall Road, Far Lane, Wadsley Lane, Marlcliffe Road, Langsett Avenue and Worrall Road to Worrall, and continuing into Oughtibridge.
Between Oughtibridge and Flouch the bus will follow the existing M68 route via Wharncliffe Side, Deepcar, Bolsterstone, Stocksbridge, Midhopestones and Langsett although will no longer follow the Cockshutts/Green Lane loop at Wharncliffe Side.
Between Flouch and Holmfirth the service will diverge with the 268 operating via Hazlehead, Crow Edge and Victoria, and the 269 via Gallows Moss, Windle Edge, Dunford Bridge and Harden before rejoining at Hade Edge for the descent down into Holmfirth.
